A number of political parties have expressed their support for energy expert Roudi Baroudi, an unaffiliated technocrat whose name has been circulated as a strong candidate to assume the leadership of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy. In this context, Baroudi has reportedly received calls from Lebanon and abroad emphasizing the importance of him assuming such a portfolio and encouraging him to undertake the job as a national duty. In response to these entreaties, Baroudi reportedly expressed his readiness to take a temporary leave from his position in Qatar and return to Lebanon to assume this responsibility, adding that he trusted the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister-designate to make the best decision for the country.
